Landmark Iberians is excited to announce the arrival of two new Lusitanos to the US, Maca (2016 approved buckskin Lusitano mare) and Ares (5yo black Lusitano gelding). They are currently settling in to their new life, and loving the freedom of turnout and lush green fields. Ares will be listed for sale once I return to the US in May, so stay tuned.

I am taking a one year hiatus from Portugal to return to the US. I plan to return to Portugal next May to continue my training, but for now I am excited to spend a year back in the American Dressage scene and share what I have learned during my time here in Portugal! I will be based at the beautiful Cross Creek Farm in Tryon NC (10 min from TIEC). Amenities at Cross Creek include a covered arena with mirrors and GGT footing, outdoor 20 x 60 arena, large grass turnout paddocks and access to hacking trails. I will be in Tryon May 15- Dec 1 and in Wellington FL from Dec 1 to end of April. At the moment, there are two possible stall openings at Cross Creek— both are extra large stalls with sand run outs. I am available to take training or sales horses in both Tryon and Florida. I have spent the last year in Portugal training with multi-time Olympian Daniel Pinto, who is a 15 year student and follower of Kyra Kyrklund’s training system. I will remain here in Portugal through th...

Daniel and I have really been working hard with Black to teach him to use his body in a correct way-- moving through the back and lowering the haunches so that he has the freedom to lift in the shoulder. Although Black has understood the concept of "half-steps" for several years, this is first time I am feeling true piaffe where he really lowers the croup and lifts up through the shoulders without any tension or bracing in the neck. This basic, yet fundamental work, has carried over in to all aspects of our training, and we are now able to school the pirouettes and tempi changes with much more true self-carriage. Really, the feeling is amazing, and I cannot wait to return home so that I can share all that I have learned with other riders.

Summer has arrived. The weather is wonderful, flowers are blooming and the horses are blossoming. I cannot get over the change in young Jaguar as his beautiful dapples emerge! We are looking for to our next clinic with Kyra June 20/21! Stay tuned...

I have been struggling for some time to find a saddle that fits both Black and me. Black needs something that offers tremendous shoulder freedom without putting too much pressure on his lower back, while I need a saddle that allows me to sit in the correct position over his hindlegs. I think we have finally hit the JACKPOT with the awesome custom Ferdi Weischenberg saddle. The balance is perfect, and Black is moving better than ever! I also feel that I can finally sit without restriction in the correct place. Contact me for more info, but so far I cannot say enough good things about the quality of this saddle!

Jocosa Saramunheiro (Zeus do Zambujal x Canela x Universo) is a lovely 4yo who has just joined the Landmark PRE team. She is a beautiful bright bay and currently stands 160cm (expected to mature to 162 cm). She has three powerful gaits and an excellent, strong confirmation. I am excited to begin training this special girl! When the time is right, she will be offered for sale, but if you are looking for a super talented youngster do not hesitate to contact me for further details.

Our first European competition was a success. We were lucky enough to compete on the beautiful showgrounds of Alter de Chao (Alter Real Stud). Falero and I competed C level (approx 4th level) and took a third and second place. Next show we plan to move up to PSG!!

I am so excited with the progress all of the horses are making here in Portugal at DP Dressage. Falero is working on his tempi changes and pirouettes in preparation for the Prix St. George. Our competitions begin here very soon! My young Jagaur continues to grow stronger and shows a great work ethic in his training. The most important thing is that both horses remain happy and confident in their work thanks to Daniel's wonderful guidance. The rainy season is slowly coming to end, and we are finally having a chance to enjoy the sunshine again!

Today marks two months that I have been training in Portugal with Olympian Daniel Pinto at his incredible facility, DP Dressage in Sobral de Monte Agraco. Daniel is an amazing trainer, and I am so grateful to be here. His system stays very classically correct, and all of the horses stay happy and relaxed in their work. With my young horse, Jaguar da Quebrada, we have spent the time slowly developing his muscles and building a solid foundation in riding. He has already made huge progress, and I look forward to the next six months of development. With Falero, we have worked on establishing better balance and self-carriage so that he can perform the exercises with greater lightness and harmony. Last weekend I was able to participate with Falero in my first clinic with Kyra Kyrklund. Daniel is a long-time student of Kyra, and we are fortunate to have her visit his stable many times in the year. I am truly honored to be working with two such masters, and I know I have learned a tremendous a...

I am excited to announce that the Black (Falero Hacal) and I are counting our last days in the USA before we head to Europe on January 3 to begin our training with the great Daniel Pinto (DP Dressage). Daniel is a two-time Olympian and long-time student of dressage master, Kyra Kirkland. Daniel runs his dressage training out of beautiful facility just 35 minutes outside of Lisbon, Portugal. With Daniel and Kyra's guidance, Black and I are excited to begin our journey towards international competition. I also have an exciting new addition to the herd, who will be joining us in Portugal for training--Jaguar da Quebrada is a 2014 Lusitano stallion who shows exceptional promise for the FEI arena. I will keep all of my friends, family and supporters updated through blog and social media posts as our adventure unfolds. I am so thankful for this opportunity to train with two such incredible masters of the sport. If you are in (or near) portugal in the next months, please feel free to stop by...
